Air surrounds us, we can not live without air

We can choose which food to eat.

This is somewhat different with air! We have no choice at all. We must breathe it - it provides us with oxygen.


Equally trivial and fundamental

The quality of the air we breathe plays a vital role in our wellbeing and health. 

Air is polluted by natural and man-made substances.

Natural pollution:

  • Bacteria and viruses
  • Mould spores
  • Pollen and allergens 

Mostly man-made pollutants:

  • Fine dust and fumes
  • Cigarette smoke
  • Formaldehyde

 Tiny particles underly all these pollutants - particles with a diameter of less than 0.1 micrometers.

For comparison: 

  • The human eye can perceive particles from a size of approximately 30 micrometers.
  • A human hair has a diameter of approximately 50 micrometers (0.05mm)

 The human body is very capable of filtering particles with a size of one micrometer or more itself.

On the other hand, we can not filter smaller particles ourselves. They can enter our respiratory system unchecked.

Many of these particles are hazardous to our health and may accumulate in the lungs.

Cigarette smoke, soot or smoke from the hob, fireplace or fumes from traffic or pollen, viruses and bacteria need to be mentioned in this context.


According to research conducted by the Technical Research Institute of Sweden, approximately 90% of questionable particles in the air are smaller than one micrometer, making them too small for the body to filter them effectively.

Modern ion-technology makes it possible to remove these tiny particles from the room air.

The Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden has proven under clinical conditions that influenza viruses can largely be removed from the air using ion-technology.
