Accessories for door stations

Frequently asked questions about DoorBird accessories

How do I find accessories that fit my DoorBird system?

The exact model designation, including its suffix, the mounting type and the function required are essential. Compare the accessory’s compatibility information with your door or indoor station. A similar name alone does not guarantee a fit.

Do I need a surface-mount or flush-mount housing?

A surface-mount housing sits on the wall, while a flush-mount housing is recessed into it. Dimensions and fixings must match the exact door station model. The individual product information specifies whether the housing is included or required separately.

What is the difference between an indoor station, chime and table stand?

A video indoor station provides control inside the house, while an IP door chime gives an audible ring alert. A compatible table stand allows the indoor station to be used on a table or sideboard. Check the current model compatibility and the power supply required by each device.

Can I reuse existing doorbell wiring with a converter?

A compatible 2-Wire Ethernet PoE Converter can carry network data and power over suitable existing wires. Whether it works depends on the converter, wiring and installation. Use the PoE power supply specified for that exact model; older and newer converters may differ.

Which PoE injector or DIN-rail power supply is suitable?

A PoE injector powers suitable devices through the network cable. A DIN-rail power supply can power compatible devices directly with DC. They are not freely interchangeable: voltage, power, connections and PoE standard must match. Mains connections must be made by a qualified electrician.

When is an I/O door controller useful?

A controller such as the DoorBird A1081 places the switching contacts for suitable door or gate openers in a protected indoor area. It connects to the compatible door station over the network. Plan connections, permitted switching loads and the door opener’s power supply using the relevant datasheets.

Does every RFID key fob work with every DoorBird door station?

No. The station must have a compatible RFID reader, and both the transponder type and radio frequency must be supported. The transponder also needs to be authorised in the system. Check the exact reader and accessory compatibility before buying.

Which nameplate version should I choose?

Depending on the product, versions include BLANKO, GLOCKE, GRAVUR, LASER or CUT-OUT. Choose the correct nameplate format and material for your door station. Check the lettering method offered and, for personalised versions, provide your desired text or design as specified in the product description.
